Confirm COD orders before you ship them

Kestrel calls your cash-on-delivery customers in their own language, reads back what they ordered, and asks whether to send it. Parcels that were never going to be accepted stop at your warehouse instead of travelling both ways.

Free plan, 30 call minutes. No card needed.

Why COD orders come back

A cash-on-delivery order is a promise, and some of those promises get made carelessly. The customer ordered twice by mistake, or changed their mind two days later, or was never going to be home. Nobody tells you. The parcel goes out, travels to their city, and comes back.

You pay for that trip twice. Forward shipping, return shipping, the packaging, and the stock sitting in transit for a week instead of selling. On a ₹1,200 order the round trip can eat most of the margin you were counting on.

A confirmation call catches it early. The awkward part is that calling every COD customer by hand needs people, hours, and someone who speaks the right language. That is the part Kestrel does.

How it works

You switch it on once. After that it runs per order.

1

A COD order comes in

Kestrel picks it up from Shopify the moment the order is placed, and waits the delay you set so the customer is not called mid-checkout.

2

The customer gets a call

The agent greets them by your store name, reads back what they ordered and the amount, and asks whether to ship it. In Hindi, English, Tamil, or whichever of the ten languages fits.

3

You get an answer

Confirmed orders are tagged and ready to pack. Declined ones go to a review queue instead of shipping. Anything unclear is flagged for a human.

What you get

Ten Indian languages

Hindi, English, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Gujarati, Bengali and Punjabi. The agent follows the language the customer answers in.

Grounded in your store data

The agent can only state facts pulled from the order itself: the items, the amount, the order number. It cannot invent a delivery date or a discount.

Calling rules built in

Calling hours, daily and weekly caps, a minimum gap between attempts, and a permanent do-not-call list. These are enforced in code before a call is placed.

Nothing cancels itself

A declined order lands in a review queue. Auto-cancel in Shopify is off unless you switch it on yourself.

Every call on the record

What was asked, what the customer said, and which outcome it produced. Filter by result to find the orders that need you.

Runs on its own

Switch verification on once. New COD orders enter the queue by themselves, with retries when nobody picks up.

The calling rules run as code

Every outbound call passes a set of checks before the number is dialled. Is this number suppressed? Has this customer asked us to stop? Is it inside the calling window in your store's timezone? Have we already called them today? Is the gap since the last attempt long enough?

Those checks run as code in front of the dialer. They are not instructions given to a language model, because an instruction can be talked around and a gate cannot. If a check fails, no call is placed, and the reason is written down where you can read it.

The calling window itself is capped at 09:00 to 21:00 to match Indian telecom rules for commercial calls. You can make it narrower. The settings form will not let you make it wider.

Pricing

Each plan includes call minutes. Go past them and the extra minutes are metered, so a quiet month costs less than a loud one.

Questions

What does Kestrel actually do?
It calls the customer after a cash-on-delivery order is placed, confirms the order details out loud, and records whether they want it shipped. Confirmed orders are marked ready. Declined ones stop before they reach your courier.
Which languages does it speak?
Ten: Hindi, Indian English, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Gujarati, Bengali and Punjabi. You pick which ones are enabled, and the agent follows whichever the customer answers in.
When are customers called?
Only inside the window you set, evaluated in your store timezone. The window has to sit between 09:00 and 21:00, which is what Indian telecom rules allow for commercial calls. You can narrow it further but not widen it.
What happens if a customer says no?
The order is marked as declined and goes to your review queue. Kestrel does not cancel orders in Shopify unless you turn that setting on yourself.
What if nobody answers?
It retries, up to the number of attempts you set, with the gap you set between tries. After that the order is flagged for review rather than called again.
Can a customer stop the calls?
Yes. If someone asks not to be called again, the number is suppressed immediately and permanently, across every order and every workflow.
How is this billed?
A monthly plan with included call minutes. Minutes past the included allowance are metered. The free plan covers 30 minutes so you can try it on real orders before paying.
What data does Kestrel read from my store?
Orders, customers, checkouts, products and fulfillment status, all read-only. It does not request write access to your catalogue or inventory.

Try it on your next COD order

The free plan covers 30 call minutes, which is enough to hear what your customers sound like before you decide.
